It’s all set. Council Bluffs Mayor Tom Hanafan and his staff will cross the Missouri River next month to build a house for Habitat for Humanity in Omaha.
Hanafan and Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle met on the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge November 18 to announce the wager for the Nebraska-Iowa football game.
The bet was simple. If Nebraska lost, Suttle and his staff would build a Habitat for Humanity House in Council Bluffs. If Iowa lost, which it did, then Hanafan and his staff would build a house in Omaha.
The house will be built December 17th near 38th and Seward.
Suttle and volunteers from Omaha plan to be there too to lend a hand. Suttle will also collect basic kitchen and household supplies for the family that is planning to move into a Habitat for Humanity home in Council Bluffs December 10.
